Learning by Hearing: Group Sessions

  • Promoting your work or organization with Adobe Spark for devices


Sessions are a maximum of two hours each and should be within a 30 mile radius from the studio. Multiple sessions can be arranged.

 Learning by Doing: Individual Lessons

Have an experienced trainer at your side while you go through the tools and techniques of Photoshop or other common computer programs.


For Photoshop, you can:

  • Start with photos right out of the camera and enhance them to be ready for printing
  • Learn various techniques to retouch and manipulate your photos
  • Learn how various tools work
  • Find out which tools to use for different scenarios
  • How did they do that?
  • Can be individualized with one session, or more formal with a series of lessons.

How-To Digital Photography             

Learn, Practice & Review all in one session. Practice the setting, techniques, then review the images as a class. We’ll cover Landscapes, Macro, Portraits, Still Life and Telephoto. 5 week course offered in the spring and fall,


Digital Photography, in depth

Get to know your digital camera, whether it’s a DSLR with removable lenses or a compact pocket camera. We’ll learn what makes a good photo. We’ll cover light & exposure, lenses & depth of field, and different types of photography (nature, landscape, close-up, portraits). We’ll cover getting images into and out of the computer, and spent some time on special effects both in-camera and in-computer. This is a nine-week program. Some shooting will be done during the class, and there will be homework for you to share the following week. 9 week course, offered in the spring and fall.



Optimizing Images & Video              

Learn to optimize photo & videos. See how to combine two images. Discover new ways to capture materials, brushes, shapes, patterns colors and identify fonts. Bring your smart phone or tablet. We’ll be using apps from Adobe (free trial period). 60-90 minute workshop.


“SPARK” Your Creativity            

Create posts, videos/slideshows and mini-web sites with your photos. Bring your smart phone, tablet or laptop with photos on it. We’ll be using apps from Adobe (free trial). 60-90 minute workshop.


Tangling Yarn: Knit or Crochet

Join the thousands of people who tangle yarn to relax. Learn to crochet or knit a cotton dishcloth for your first project. After the dishcloth, you can go on to other simple yarn projects. 5 week course or ongoing as needed.



Polymer Clay Beads             

Five week class. Learn how to make your own beads & jewelry out of this colorful, lightweight, oven-bake clay. Learn to create several different styles of beads. We’ll also make  some beads into jewelry. 5 week course.


Polymer Clay Curios

Five week class. Learn how to make animals, ornaments and other items out of this colorful, lightweight, oven-bake clay. Create with whimsy & imagination. 5 week course.

Photoshop & Bridge

Together, the three 5-week courses cover the material you will need to pass Adobe’s Certification test. Use your full version program of Photoshop CS6 or above. Beginning: learn the interface and tools to enhance photos. Intermediate: non-destructive editing and masks. Advanced: filters, retouching, manipulation, 3D & printing. 


Lightroom

This 5-week course will cover the basics of using Adobe Lightroom to optimize images on your computer. Lightroom can be used to organize your photos and keep track of where your images reside. It is used somewhat like a data base that can search for phots by any criteria.


Papercraft Box Workshop

Fold and cut square sheets of paper to make small gift boxes. Add a 3D flower or tag on top for gift giving.  A great place to store small treasures. You’ll take home the pattern so you can make more at home; try magazine covers or your own art for a different look. We’ll use pre-printed paper. A flash drive with almost 900 printable patterns, templates, & embellishments, a materials list and folding directions for two types of boxes will be available for $10.00 each if you’d like to print patterned paper at home. 60 minute workshop, materials provided.


‍ Papercraft: Finger Puppets

Turn a flat piece of 8.5” square paper into #D hand puppets, fortune tellers or picture frames.



Papercraft: Straw Dolly

Learn to make a 3D helical structures out of paper drinking straws in the ancient tradition of weaving grain.



Most classes and workshops are offered year round. Photography is only offered in the spring and fall. Workshops and classes can be scheduled for other times than posted on the class offering sheets. Many times, in the summer, all five classes are offered in one week like a summer camp.
